On Today’s Show, My DIY Holiday Nail Ideas!

Fun, festive nails are a great way to get into the holiday spirit in style!

I set up what was like a ‘Nail Pop-up’ in The Rhode Show’s studio today and shared my tips and ideas for DIY holiday-themed nails with my co-host Michaela, model MacKenzie and viewers at home.  You can watch now, here

THESE ARE A CINCH:
Start with a festive-colored base coat, then layer on a clear glitter polish. Cover the entire nail or go for an ombre look. Easy designs that require few colors are candy cane stripes, Santa belt, string of lights and holly.

Tip! Use Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dry Nail Polish as the first layer, so there’s hardly a wait to paint over.

TAKE IT UP A NOTCH:
Using toothpicks, pointed brushes, jewels from your arts and crafts box and an array of nail polish (or mix the colors you do have!), give some classic holiday designs a try.  Check out the one’s Meg did, including a reindeer, snowman, Santa face, and a multi-colored Christmas tree.

Tip! Use Sally Hansen’s Dry and Go Drops in lieu of a brush to not fuss with all the details.

EVEN MORE TIPS:

  • Keep things like cotton swabs, Q-Tips and nail art tools like tooth picks handy in clear jars.
  • For on-the-go nails, store all your supplies in a travel case like a Caboodle! (Sally Beauty)
  • Be extra gentle to your nails and cuticles by using a nail polish remover with aloe after moisturizing nails and cuticles with a thick lotion.  I like Philosophy’s Pure Grace Lotion, available at both Sephora and Ulta.
  • Get inspired by holiday décor around the house and Pinterest boards online for design ideas.
  • Sometimes using glitter polish adds just enough holiday sparkle.
